Phillip Lawrence served twenty years in the U.S. Army and retired to the great state of North Carolina. He spends his time researching, writing, shooting guns, and playing with his grandchildren.
Having spent the majority of his military time in the infantry and later in special operations, Phillip is drawn to stories involving conflicts great and small. In particular, he draws inspiration from stories about insurgencies and counterinsurgencies. “The thing about war is that both sides have a point they are trying to make, a political or ideological point which they happen to make with guns and bombs. Once you get past all the killing, it’s mostly about goals. The cruelty men visit upon each other becomes sideline material. It’s in that material where we learn the nature of man when he is untethered.”
He has so far published one novel and numerous blog posts.
